Jose Aldo Repeats he Will “Only Accept” an Immediate Rematch With Conor McGregor
By FCF Staff
UFC officials haven’t publicly relayed what their plans are for Jose Aldo, but the former featherweight champ continues to say he will only accept a rematch with Conor McGregor,
Following Aldo’s stunning, 13 second KO to McGregor last month, he said he wanted another fight with the new champ. Since then, however, McGregor has been scheduled to fight lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos on March 5th. In addition, there’s been considerable speculation that when McGregor defends the 145 title, it will be against Frankie Edgar. The latter stopped Chad Mendes last month.
Aldo recently spoke with the Brazilian publication Globo Esporte, and the star had this to say about his next fight (translation via Bloody Elbow.com):
“All champions who lost got an immediate rematch. So we will only accept that. We are fighting for a right that is ours.”
Prior to facing McGregor, Aldo had gone undefeated in 10 years, and was riding a 18 fight winning streak.
