UFC and Strikeforce veteran Paul Daley has a new employer, as the punishing striker has signed with kickboxing’s K-1 organization.
According to a press release sent out by the promotion, Daley will make his K-1 debut this July at a MAX Finals event in Thailand. The 31 year-old fighter will be competing in the organization’s new 80 kilogram (176 pounds) division.
“K-1, ‘THE’ K-1,” Daley was quoted saying in a press release from the promotion. “What an honour it is for me to be part of such a great legacy and I hope that I can be part of the journey to re-establish the powerhouse brand that K-1 is capable of being. I’m going to fight hard, always look for the knockouts, entertain and aspire to be the champion, I ask for all my supporters from MMA to join me on my kickboxing journey.”
The British fighter’s first opponent has yet to be announced.
Daley has been competing in both MMA and kickboxing bouts in recent months. On April 5th, “Semtex” stopped Alexander Surzhko while fighting for the kickboxing organization Legend.
The win extended Daley’s kickboxing record to 17-3. The fighter’s MMA record stands at 34-13-2.
