Kajan Johnson: Teammate Joseph Duffy is “Looking Awesome” as UFC FN 76 Nears
By Kelsey Mowatt
Joseph Duffy is scheduled to compete in the headliner of UFC Fight Night 76 this Saturday, and according to his teammate, the Irish fighter is more than ready for the biggest scrap of his life.
Duffy is booked to take on Dustin Poirier at the October 24th event, in what is the rising lightweight’s third fight with the promotion. “Irish Joe” returned to Montreal’s famous Tristar gym to prepare for the pivotal fight, which is also home to fellow lightweight, Kajan Johnson.
Recently the latter appeared on Full Contact Fighter Radio, and when Johnson was asked about Duffy, “Ragin” relayed the following:
“I train with Duffy everyday man; he’s a great, great training partner and he’s got an incredible attitude,” said Johnson, who is coming off a decision win over Naoyuki Kotani. “He fits in really well with the team at Tristar, and we’re all growing together.”
Duffy has been considered one of Europe’s top prospects for some time, and arrived in the UFC earlier this year. After stopping Jake Lindsey in the opening round this past May, the former pro boxer went on to submit Ivan Jorge in July.
“He’s looking really good for this upcoming fight,” added Johnson. “He’s got a lot of southpaws to spar with, and our gym is just stocked with pretty much every single kind of look you can have in MMA…”
“So, he’s very blessed to be here and to be doing his camp here, and fighting with his teammates as well that he’s training with, because Tom Breese is fighting on that same card, and they’re training everyday together. So yeah, he’s looking awesome man.”
UFC FN 76 will be hosted by Dublin’s 3 Arena. In the co-main event, flyweight Patrick Holohan will take on Louis Smolka.
