Leon Edwards Reports He’s Headlining UFC’s Next London Card
By FCF Staff
Leon Edwards has yet to compete since he lost the UFC’s welterweight title this past July. But, the former champ is reporting he will return to the Octagon before the first quarter of 2025 is up.
Edwards lost the welterweight crown to Belal Muhammad at UFC 304, as the latter leveraged his wrestling extensively to record a unanimous decision win. This past weekend, Edwards was on hand at boxing event in Birmingham, England, which was broadcast by DAZN. Edwards appeared on the broadcast, and when asked about when he’s fighting again, the 33-year-old said in March (quotes via MMA Fighting.com).
“I’m back in March,” Edwards said. “March in London, at the O2. I’m headlining the O2, so I’m looking forward to it, to get my belt back and bring it back to Birmingham.”
The UFC is expected to hold a card in London on March 22nd. Edwards didn’t name an opponent and it’s not clear whether the event will be a pay-per-view card. Typically, the UFC books championship fights as the main event for a PPV card and Muhammad is expected to face the winner of the December 7th, Shavkat Rakhmonov – Ian Machado Garry fight.
Edwards (22-4) had gone undefeated in 13 straight fights prior to facing Muhammad.
