M-1 Global Announces Signing of Alexander Shlemenko, Former Bellator Champ to Fight Vyacheslav Vasilevsky Next
By FCF Staff
M-1 Global has announced that former Bellator champ Alexander Shlemenko will compete in its upcoming middleweight grand-prix, and that he’ll fight Vyacheslav Vasilevsky in the opening round.
The bout will take place February 19 at the Olympic Stadium in Moscow, as part of M-1 Challenge 64.
Shlemenko (51-9) will be competing for the firs time since he knocked out Melvin Manhoef at Bellator 133 in February. Following the bout Shlemenko tested positive for PEDs, however, and the result was overturned. The Russian fighter was also handed a three year suspension by the California Commission.
Vasilevsky (17-3) is coming off a stoppage win over Kristijan Perak in October.
M-1 Challenge 64 will also feature Alexander Volkov (24-6-0) taking on Denis Smoldaraev (11-1-0) for the vacant M-1 Challenge heavyweight championship.
