Veteran fighter Matt Brown is the latest athlete on the UFC’s roster, whose had to pull out of a fight, due to COVID-19.

The 40-year-old Brown was scheduled to fight welterweight Bryan Barberena at the promotion’s December 4 card. But, recently Brown announced via social media that he’s contracted the coronavirus.

“Sh*tty day today I tested positive for covid so my fight next weekend is off.”

“I was sick af over the weekend but feel better for the most part now. Lost smell today. Did a jog outside today and lungs burned some I thought maybe it was just the cold air but maybe I’m still sick. I’ll get over it quickly and go from there.”

Brown (23-18) is coming off a knockout win over Dhiego Lima in June, after dropping consecutive fights to Miguel Baeza and Carlos Condit.

It’s not known yet whether the UFC will look to find a replacement opponent for Barberena.

UFC Vegas 44 will be headlined by a bout between bantamweight contenders Rob Font and Jose Aldo.
