Max Holloway to Battle Yair Rodriguez Next
By FCF Staff
The UFC has added a compelling and pivotal featherweight fight to its upcoming schedule, as it’s being reported former champ Max Holloway will battle Yair Rodriguez.
The 29-year-old Holloway (22-6) returned to the win column this past January, by outscoring Calvin Kattar for a clear-cut, decision win. The victory followed Holloway’s back-to-back, decision losses to current champ, Alexander Volkanovski.
According to ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, UFC President Dana White has confirmed Holloway will fight Rodriguez on July 17. The bout will serve as the card’s main event.
The 28-year-old Rodriguez (13-2, 1 NC), meanwhile, hasn’t fought since October 2019, when he defeated Jeremy Stephens by decision. The contender has gone 3-1, with 1 no contest in his last 5 fights.
No location has been announced for the July 17 event. But, the expectation is the card will be hosted by the Apex Facility in Las Vegas.
