Nate Diaz Denies Turning Down Fight With Khabib Nurmagomedov
By FCF Staff
While it remains to be seen who Khabib Nurmagomedov will battle next, Nate Diaz is denying that he has turned down a fight with the rising lightweight, as Dana White recently claimed.
The UFC President was recently asked about the possibility of a Diaz-Nurmagomedov bout on Twitter, and White replied:
@EDLEZGIN @TeamKhabib Nate turned the fight down
— Dana White (@danawhite) January 11, 2014
@EDLEZGIN @TeamKhabib @NateDiaz209 nobody wants to fight Khabib
— Dana White (@danawhite) January 11, 2014
The outspoken Diaz, however, denied he’s been approached about facing the 21-0 fighter:
@danawhite @ufc are full of shit I didn’t turn down anything …

Recently it was reported that a bout between Nurmagomedov and Gilbert Melendez was in the works, but the fight was never finalized. The Russian fighter is coming off a unanimous decision win over Pat Healy at UFC 165 in September, and has won five straight in the UFC.
Diaz (17-9) quickly stopped Gray Maynard at the TUF 18 Finale in November, after dropping back-to-back bouts to Benson Henderson and Josh Thomson.
