Nick Diaz Says He’s Been Hearing Other Commissions Are Upset With Suspension
By FCF Staff
Nick Diaz has been handed a five year suspension from the Nevada Commission, but the embattled star believes other jurisdictions might allow him to fight in the interim.
Diaz was recently handed a five year suspension from the NSAC, as a result of testing positive for marijuana earlier this year. The 32 year-old, who is medically licensed to use marijuana in California, has tested positive for the drug three times.
The lengthy suspension has been greeted with disbelief and anger by many, and the fighter plans to appeal the decision. Recently TMZ.com caught up with Diaz, and the former Strikeforce champ had this to say, when asked about his future.
“I’ve been hearing other states’ athletic commissions are angry about the ruling, so hopefully I’ll be able to fight in those states.”
During the interview Diaz also thanked Ronda Rousey for her recent comments, as the bantamweight champ has called the fighter’s suspension unfair.
“She didn’t need to do that. I don’t know if she caught heat for it … I hope she didn’t…”
Rousey, meanwhile, is scheduled to fight Holly Holm on November 14th at UFC 193.
