ONE FC Confirms Zorobabel Moreira as Roger Huerta’s New Opponent
By FCF Staff
Rising Asian promotion ONE FC has announced that Zorobabel Moreira will replace Phil Baroni at the promotion’s upcoming June 23rd card in Malaysia and will fight Roger Huerta. The organization confirmed the match-up on Twitter.
The move became necessary as a result of Baroni’s recent TKO loss to Chris Holland, which took place June 2nd at Ring of Fire 43.
“Zoro” Moreira (6-1), who has more recently competed at lightweight, is coming off a third round, submission win over Felipe Enomoto at ONE FC 3 in March. The BJJ black belt and Evolve Gym fighter has won four straight fights since he was stopped by Joe Ray in June, 2010.
Huerta (21-6) is looking to end a three fight losing streak which includes losses to War Machine, Eddie Alvarez and Pat Curran. “El Matador’s” last win took place in April, 2010, when he submitted Chad Hinton with a third round kneebar while competing for Bellator.
Due to the fact that the former UFC star was preparing for a welterweight bout with Baroni, the upcoming fight with Moreira will reportedly take place at 170 pounds.
ONE FC’s “Destiny of Warriors” will be hosted by Kula Lumpur’s Stadium Negara.
