Pat Barry Insists Rose Namajunas Wants Title Shot, in Response to Dana White
By FCF Staff
Dana White recently reported he had been told Rose Namajunas doesn’t want to fight for the strawweight title again in her next bout. But the former UFC champ’s coach and fiance, Pat Barry, insists that’s not the case.
Recently White told BT Sport that he had heard Namajunas does not want to fight for the belt in her next outing. As a result, the promotion is looking at having Carla Esparza challenge the champion Weili Zhang next.
When Barry was contacted for a response by ESPN, however, he reportedly said this.
“That is absolutely not true. We absolutely want the title fight. Who would turn down a title fight? We just dont want to air this out publicly. If there was some confusion they can call us to clear it up.”
The 28-year-old Namajuns (9-4) avenged her 2019, KO loss to Jéssica Andrade this past July, by working her way to a split decision win. ‘Thug’ is currently ranked #1 in the UFC’s strawweight division.
