Patricio “Pitbull” Makes Prediction for Michael Chandler – Paddy Pimblett Fight
By FCF Staff
Patricio “Pitbull” Freire will make his UFC debut the same night former foe, Michael Chandler will battle Paddy Pimblett, and recently he made his prediction for the fight.
Chandler is set to battle Pimblett at UFC 314, which is taking place on April 12th in Miami, Florida. Freire, meanwhile, will face Yair Rodriguez.
Recently, the former Bellator featherweight and lightweight champ, Freire, spoke with Middle Easy. When asked who he thinks will take the Chandler – Pimblett fight, Freire went with the latter (quote via MMA Junkie.com).
“It looks like Paddy Pimblett is in the better moment of his career, and he’s going to win that fight,” Freire said. “I know he’s very confident, and I think he’s going to win the fight.”
Pimblett (22-3) is riding an eight-fight, winning streak, heading into UFC 314. Chandler (23-9), meanwhile, is coming off back-to-back losses to Dustin Poirier and Charles Oliveira.
Freire (36-7), on the other hand, hasn’t competed since March, 2024, when he stopped Jeremy Kennedy. The decorated fighter quickly stopped Chandler under the Bellator banner back in 2019.
Initially, the Rodriguez – Freire fight was scheduled for the prelims, before it was moved to the main card. In the aforementioned interview, “Pitbull” acknowledged he was surprised when he first learned he was booked for the prelims.
“Yeah, it was weird that they made those changes,” Freire said. “He was a former interim champion. We were the third-to-last fight on the card. Then they made those changes. But it doesn’t change anything to me. I’m just going to go in there and do my job.”
Rodriguexz (19-5) is looking to get back on track after losing consecutive fights to Brian Ortega and Alexander Volkanovski.
