Quote of the Day: Lorenz Larkin Tells Dana White He Wishes He Could Have Skipped MMA’s “Pu–y Era”
By FCF Staff
The fallout has begun from the news that Strikeforce middleweight champ Luke Rockhold has been forced to withdraw from another title defense in January due to injury, and the man who’s had another title shot cancelled, apparently isn’t pleased. Lorenz Larkin, who was scheduled to fight Rockhold on November 3rd and January 12th, posted on his Twitter account recently:
@danawhite hey Dana I hurt my right pinky toe guess I can’t fight wish I started 2 years before I did so I could have skipped this pussy era
According to multiple reports Rockhold (10-1) will not defend his belt as scheduled due to a wrist injury. The middleweight champ last competed in July when he scored a unanimous decision win over Tim Kennedy.
Larkin (13-0 with 1 no contest) is coming off a UD win over Robbie Lawler in July.
Strikeforce’s January 12th card was billed as “Champions” due to the fact it was supposed to feature three title fights. Lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez will also no longer compete, however, due to a shoulder injury, which prevented him from fighting Pat Healy in September.
The only champion remaining on the card at this juncture is Nate Marquardt, who is scheduled to fight Tarec Saffiedine.
Strikeforce has not made any official announcement regarding Rockhold’s reported withdrawal.
The January 12th card, which is expected to be Strikeforce’s last, will be hosted by Oklahoma’s Chesapeake Energy Arena. The event will be broadcast on Showtime.
