Rafael Fiziev Gets His Wish, Booked For Rematch With Justin Gaethje
By FCF Staff
Justin Gaethje is remaining on the UFC 313 card, as Rafael Fiziev has been granted his wish, and will rematch the longtime, lightweight contender.
Gaethje had been booked to fight Dan Hooker at the March 8th event, but a hand injury has forced him to withdraw. When news of his withdrawal broke, Fiziev called for the UFC to tap him as a replacement and more recently the promotion announced the rematch is official.
Fiziev (12-3) faced Gaethje for the first time in March, 2023, and lost the fight via decision. The noted striker hasn’t competed since September, 2023, when he dropped a decision loss to Mateuz Gamrot.
Gaethje (25-5), meanwhile, is coming off a highlight reel, KO loss to Max Holloway, in April, 2024.
UFC 313 will be headlined by a light-heavyweight fight between champion Alex Pereira and Magomed Ankalaev.
The card will be hosted by T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
