Renzo Gracie Says Upcoming Bout With ONE Championship Won’t be His Last
By FCF Staff
Recently ONE Championship announced that Renzo Gracie is returning to competition on July 27th and will fight Yuki Kondo. But, according to the 51 year-old legend, the bout will not be his last, as advertised.
Although Gracie hasn’t fought since 2010, when he was stopped by Matt Hughes, the famed, BJJ black belt has never officially retired. Recently Gracie spoke with MMA Fighting, and while discussing his upcoming bout, which has been billed as his retirement fight, the charismatic fighter said this:
“I believe I’m going to fight more,” Gracie said. “I’m going to impress people with this fight, and they’re going to want me to fight more, so I will do it.”
“I think they thought I’m 51 and I don’t need it anymore, but I will fight for them more times. Believe it.”
The upcoming fight will be part of ONE’s “Reign of Kings” card, which will take place in Manila, Phillippines.
