Report: Alexander Gustafsson Off UFC Vegas 36 Card
By FCF Staff
It looks like Alexander Gustafsson’s plan to return to the top of the UFC’s light heavyweight division has hit another snag, as it’s being reported he’s out of UFC Vegas 36.
The former title challenger was booked to fight surging contender, Paul Craig, at the September 4th card. The event will be held at the Apex Facility.
But, recently MMA Junkie reported a source has informed the outlet Gustafsson has withdrawn, due to an undisclosed injury.
The 34-year-old Gustafsson (18-7) retired in 2019, after being submitted by Anthony Smith. The Swedish fighter returned to the Octagon in July, 2020, but was tapped out by former heavyweight champ, Fabricio Werdum.
It’s not clear yet if the 33-year-old Craig will get a new opponent for UFC Vegas 36, given the card is taking place in less than two weeks. Craig (15-4-1) is undefeated in 5 straight fights and has won 3 in a row.
UFC Vegas 36 will be headlined by a middleweight fight between contenders Darren Till and Derek Brunson.
