Recently Alexander Gustafsson said his retirement likely would come to an end. Now, it’s being reported the former light-heavyweight contender will fight Fabricio Werdum in his comeback bout.

After Gustafsson (18-6) was submitted by Anthony Smith last June, the Swedish star announced he was hanging up the gloves.

According to a report from Combate and a follow up report from MMA Fighting, Gustafsson has agreed to fight the former heavyweight champ Werdum on July 25th.

The card is expected to take place on ‘Fight Island’, which has yet to have its location announced.

Werdum (23-9-1) faced Alexey Oleynik last month and lost via split decision. The Brazilian is 2-3 in his last 5 fights.

Gustafsson has also gone 2-3 in his previous 5 bouts.
