Alexandre “Capitao” de Almeida will reportedly no longer compete on TUF Brazil 4, after incurring a medical scare, which initially indicated he had a brain aneurysm.
The 26 year-old de Almeida had already taped interviews for the season and was set to fly to Nevada, where the show is being filmed. But, in a report from MMA Fighting.com, the Brazilian said that the Nevada Commission informed him that a pre-fight medical exam indicated he a brain aneurysm. As a result, de Almeida will not be part of TUF Brazil 4.
The 16-5 fighter was understandably concerned and heartbroken, but he elected to undergo additional exams in Sao Paulo a few weeks later. The Jungle Fight vet says he never felt any symptoms.
According to de Almeida the physicians “did a cerebral angiography with contrast” and the tests came back clean. “Capitao” plans to resume his career and hopes to sign with the UFC.
