Report: Aljamain Sterling – Henry Cejudo Fight Nearly Finalized
By FCF Staff
Aljamain Sterling has been reporting that he expects to fight Henry Cejudo next, and now it’s being reported that the match-up has verbally been agreed to.
In January, Sterling relayed that plans were in motion to have him face Cejudo. But, due to a bicep injury the bantamweight champ was recovering from, Sterling questioned whether he’d be ready for the fight in March.
More recently, Sterling reported via his YouTube channel that he’s going to fight Cejudo on May 6th. Sources have told MMA Fighting that the bout has been verbally agreed to, and that contracts are expected to be finalized soon.
Sterling (22-3) is coming off a quick, TKO win over T.J. Dillashaw in September.
Cejudo (16-2), meanwhile, hasn’t fought since May 2020 when he stopped Dominick Cruz. After the win, the decorated wrestler announced he was retiring. The former bantamweight and flyweight champ announced in 2022 that he was ending his retirement.
