Report: Bellator’s Andreas Spang Fined For Post Fight Incident
By FCF Staff
Although Andreas Spang made the most of his Bellator debut Friday, by knocking out Brian Rogers in memorable fashion, the middleweight’s actions after the fight have cost him 20 percent of his purse.
After the bout, Maiquel Falcao was brought into the cage to face off with Spang, who he will meet in the tournament’s upcoming semifinals. As he did with Rogers at the weigh-ins the day prior, however, Spang angrily pushed Falcao away and nearly incited a post-fight brawl.
According to widespread reports the Ohio State Athletic Commission has fined Spang 20% of his purse; the middleweight reportedly will not be suspended.
Spang came from behind in the second round at Friday’s Bellator 66 card and floored Roger’s with a left hook to advance in the promotion’s middleweight tourney.
According to the payroll numbers FCF has received from the Ohio commission, Spang was set to receive $30,000 for the win prior to this fine ($15,000 plus a $15,000 win bonus).
Falcao secured his semifinal spot by earning a unanimous decision win over Vyacheslav Vasilevsky.
The Bellator 66 event was hosted by Cleveland’s I-X Center.
