By FCF Staff
Ben Askren has never been shy about sharing what he thinks, and now he’s taken aim at another fighter who’s known for making headline, making comments.
The ONE FC welterweight and former Bellator champ recently appeared on the podcast “MMA Roasted“, and was asked about Diaz. Here is some of what the 29 year-old Askren reportedly had to say about the longtime contender (quote via Bloody Elbow):
“Diaz, man he ain’t even fighting no more, why would I talk about me against someone who’s retired?,” the renowned wrestler said. “Well, if Nick Diaz can stay off the pipe, maybe I’ll fight him. He’s like taking down a wet paper bag. I don’t think I’d have much trouble. He’d probably be flipping me off and sh-t, but I’ll just smile at him.”
Diaz hasn’t fought now since March, 2013, when he was decisioned by Georges St-Pierre.
Askren, meanwhile, is coming off a first round, submission win over Bakhtiyar Abbasov in May, which marked his ONE FC debut.
