Report: Carlos Condit to Battle Thiago Alves May 30th
By FCF Staff
After being sidelined for over a year now, Carlos Condit finally has his next bout, as the welterweight vet will reportedly take on fellow contender Thiago Alves on May 30th. Condit will be returning to action for the first time since he injured his knee while fighting Tyron Woodley last March, and incurred a TKO loss.
The upcoming fight will headline UFC Fight Night 67 according to a report from MMA Fighting.com. The event will be hosted by the Goiania Arena in Goiania, Brazil. The UFC has not made any official announcement regarding the reported bout.
Alves (21-9) is coming off a memorable, come from behind stoppage win over Jordan Mein in January. The former challenger has gone 3-2 in his last 5 bouts.
Condit (29-8) had scored a stoppage victory over Martin Kampmann before facing Woodley at UFC 171. The contender is 2-3 in his last 5 contests. The former interim champ’s other losses during that stretch came against former world champions Georges St-Pierre and Johny Hendricks.
