Report: Chad Mendes Fighting Hacran Dias Next
By FCF Staff
Chad Mendes may not have his opportunity yet to avenge the KO loss he suffered versus UFC featherweight champ Jose Aldo, but he is reportedly set to face another member of Aldo’s Nova Uniao team.
According to a report by the Brazilian media outlet SporTV, Mendes will take on Hacran Dias at the December 14th, UFC on FX 6 card in Australia. MMAWeekly.com is also reporting that the bout is a go.
Mendes (12-1) hasn’t competed since July, when he knocked out Cody McKenzie in the first round to rebound from his aforementioned defeat to Aldo in January.
The Team Alpha Male fighter was charged with one count of misdeamnor battery following his alleged involvement in a bar fight this August. Mendes has claimed he’s innocent.
Dias (21-1) is coming off a successful UFC debut, as the featherweight scored a unanimous decision win over Yuri Alcantara at UFC 147 in July. The Brazilian has won nine straight fights.
The UFC on FX 6 card will feature the finals of the ongoing “United Kingdom vs. Australia” TUF season, as well as a lightweight bout between coaches Ross Pearson and George Sotiropoulus.
