Report: Charles Oliveira – Dustin Poirier Fight Targeted For UFC 269
By FCF Staff
Following Dustin Poirier’s second win over Conor McGregor earlier this year, there’s been extensive speculation about him fighting Charles Oliveira next. Now, it’s being reported that a fight between Poirier and the new lightweight champ is being planned for UFC 269.
After Poirier (28-6) stopped McGregor in January, the former interim champ opted to face McGregor in a rubber match, instead of fighting for the title. Poirier went on to record a TKO win over McGregor in July, while Oliveira (31-8) won the vacant title, by stopping Michael Chandler in May.
According to a report from MMA Fighting, multiple sources have informed the outlet that verbal agreements are in place for Oliveira – Poirier to take place on December 11th.
UFC 269 is planned for that date, in a location yet to be determined. Amanda Nunes is expected to defend the bantamweight title against Julianna Pena at the event.
