Charles Oliveira went down early in last night’s UFC Fight Night 74 card, and the injury that reportedly was responsible for the stoppage, is a very rare one.

Oliveira indicated he could no longer continue during his bout with Max Holloway, by waving and pointing to his shoulder area. In a follow up report from MMA Fighting.com, he told the outlet that he had injured his neck heading into the bout.

But, in a new report from MMA Junkie.com, UFC officials have relayed that Oliveira suffered a micro-tear of his esophagus in the fight.

No timeline for a recovery was provided, however, Oliveira will remain in Saskatoon for a few days and will receive follow up tests and monitoring.
