It looks like Ciryl Gane will return to the Octagon before the year is up, as it’s being reported that the former interim heavyweight champ has agreed to fight Alexander Volkov.

Gane (12-2) hasn’t competed since he stopped Serghei Spivac last September. According to an initial report from AG Fight, and a follow-up report from MMA Fighting, Gane and Volkov have verbally agreed to fight at UFC 308, October 26th.

Contracts have not officially been signed yet.

Volkov (38-10), meanwhile, competed last month and recorded a clear-cut, unanimous decision win over Sergei Pavlovich. The Russian fighter has won four straight.

France’s Gane is 3-2 in his last five contests. Prior to defeating Spivac, Gane was submitted by Jon Jones in March, 2023.

UFC 308 will take place in Abu Dhabi.
