Report: Conor McGregor Says he Beat Chad Mendes on “One Leg” Due to Knee Injury
By FCF Staff
Conor McGregor reported before that he had to battle through an injury in preparation for UFC 189, and now the interim featherweight champ has provided some details.
After McGregor stopped Chad Mendes on July 11th, the Irish star said he was injured during his camp, but didn’t go into specifics. The outspoken fighter also said this while criticizing Jose Aldo for withdrawing from their scheduled bout. Aldo withdrew from UFC 189 not long before the card due to a broken rib.
McGregor was on hand at a Q&A session with fans last weekend in Dublin, and during it, “Notorious” said the following (quote via MMA Fighting.com):
“Fourteen weeks before the fight I tore 80 percent of my ACL,” said McGregor. “I could barely walk, I could barely kick.”
“…I went into that fight and I beat Chad on one leg. After going through that adversity I feel like I have gained three new legs.”
McGregor and Aldo are scheduled to fight in the headliner for UFC 194, which will take place on December 12th.
