Gray Maynard suffered his third consecutive, stoppage loss at UFC Fight Night 47, and although Dana White isn’t calling for him to retire, he’s going to talk with the established vet.

The decorated wrestler was put away by Ross Pearson with a series of punches in round two on Saturday.

White was asked to weigh-in on the 34 year-old fighter’s future following the event, and here is what the UFC President had to say (quote via MMA Fighting.com):

“Obviously he came here to fight, and he’s been cleared medically to fight, I think the kid is healthy,” White said. “But, you know, it’s probably a discussion we might have. I’m not looking to chase Gray out of the game or anything like that. I’ll talk to him though.

“These guys go through extensive medical testing and we know getting knocked out isn’t good for you. But we’ll see. He’s a young guy, he’s talented, we’ll see what he wants to do.”

Maynard was competing for the first time since last November, when he was stopped by Nate Diaz in round one. Prior to that, at UFC 160 in May, TJ Grant TKO’d the former number one contender in the opening frame.
