Report: Dana White Says Alexander Gustafsson-Daniel Cormier Not Next
By FCF Staff
Daniel Cormier recently expressed an interest in fighting Alexander Gustafsson next, but it looks like the UFC has different plans for the light-heavyweight contenders.
Since Gustafsson is coming off a stoppage loss to Anthony Johnson last month, and Cormier was decisioned by the champion Jon Jones, there’s been considerable speculation that the UFC might book the two to fight. Gustafsson is currently ranked #2 in the UFC’s 205 division while Cormier is positioned at #3.
Well, UFC President Dana White was asked about the possible match-up, after this weekend’s UFC 183 card. According to a report from MMA Fighting.com, White relayed that the promotion has other fights in mind for both Cormier and Gustafsson. White did acknowledge, however, that after those upcoming bouts, Gustafsson-Cormier “makes sense.”
White did not offer any details as to who the light-heavyweights might face next.
