Report: Dana White Says Cat Zingano Will Lock up Title Shot With UFC 178 Win
By FCF Staff
Cat Zingano will fight for the first time since April, 2013, tomorrow night at UFC 178, and if she defeats Amanda Nunes, she’ll likely secure a fight with champion Ronda Rousey.
Zingano (8-0) was expected to fight Rousey next, after she defeated Miesha Tate last April, but was sidelined soon after with a knee injury. Zingano also proceeded to suffer from the passing of her husband and longtime coach, Mauricio Zingano.
With Zingano set to return, UFC President Dana White confirmed to MMA Junkie.com she will be in next in line for a title shot if the bantamweight wins on Saturday.
Nunes (9-3) has scored wins over Sheila Gaf and Germaine de Randamie since arriving in the UFC, and is currently ranked #8.
