Report: Dana White Says Kamaru Usman to Fight For WW Title at UFC 235, But Opponent Still Unclear
By FCF Staff
Recently Kamaru Usman relayed that he’s signed a bout agreement for a title fight, and now Dana White has reportedly said the surging fighter is going to fight for the 170 belt. But, it’s still not known whether he’ll do so against reigning champ, Tyron Woodley.
Usman shared out an image of the bout agreement earlier this month, but Woodley has continued to drive for a fight with his rival, Colby Covington. In a more recent report from MMA Junkie, however, White told the outlet that Usman is going to fight for the belt at UFC 235, March 2nd, with or without Woodley.
Woodley last competed in September when he submitted Darren Till. The UFC had hoped to have Covington fight Woodley that month, but the former interim champ elected to undergo nasal surgery. Then it was reported the UFC tried booking Woodley – Covington for UFC 233 in January (which has since been cancelled), but the champion hadn’t committed to the event due to a hand injury.
