Now that Daniel Cormier has emerged victorious from his Octagon debut, by handing former heavyweight champ Frank Mir a unanimous decision loss at UFC on FOX 8, the rising star and his camp will try to determine what’s next.

Of course, due to the fact that Cormier’s training partner and friend Cain Velasquez is the reigning heavyweight champion, speculation continues as to whether Cormier will move to light-heavyweight. Following Cormier’s win over Josh Barnett in January, when he won Strikeforce’s Heavyweight Grand-Prix, the athletic fighter called out UFC light-heavyweight champ Jon Jones.

Cormier informed “UFC Tonight” that he plans to discuss his future with his representatives and the UFC this Thursday, before adding that “big fights” are his priority, “whether it be at heavyweight or whether it be at 205.”

Although the decorated wrestler weighed in at 235 pounds for his bout with Mir, moving to the 205 pound division, if that’s the route Cormier decides to go, would likely take some time.

Cormier has now gone 12-0 since the former Olympic wrestler transitioned into MMA in 2009.
