Report: Edson Barboza to Fight Steve Garcia Next
By FCF Staff
Edson Barboza reportedly has his next fight set, as it’s being reported the longtime contender will battle rising featherweight, Steve Garcia.
The 38-year-old Barboza is looking to get back on track after dropping a decision loss to Lerone Murphy in May, which snapped his two-fight winning streak. The losses came against Billy Quarantillo and Sodiq Yusuff.
MMA Fighting is reporting that sources have confirmed that Barboza and Garcia have agreed to fight at the UFC’s February 22nd card. The venue and location for the event has yet to be announced.
Garcia (17-5) is coming off a stoppage win over Kyle Nelson in September. The 32-year-old fighter has won five straigh fights.
Barboza (24-12), meanwhile, is 2-3 in his last 5 contests.
Currently, Barboza is ranked #15 in the UFC’s featherweight division and Garcia is not yet ranked.
