By FCF Staff
The Ultimate Fighting Championship may have to recruit a new opponent for Tarec Saffiedine’s Octagon debut, as according to reports, Jake Ellenberger has withdrawn from UFC Fight Night 34 due to injury. The event will take place in Singapore.
The Brazilian outlet Globo.com is reporting that Ellenberger was seen limping after injuring himself at Kings MMA recently, and that he could be out for approximately a month. In a follow up report from MMA Fighting.com, sources have relayed that the powerful welterweight has indeed withdrawn from the January 4th card.
The UFC has not made any announcement regarding the reported injury.
Saffiedine (14-3) has yet to compete in the UFC, as the former Strikeforce champion has been sidelined with injuries, since he decisioned Nate Marquardt in January.
Ellenberger (29-7) is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Rory MacDonald at UFC on FOX 8 in July.
