After having their first booking to fight fall through, it’s being reported that the UFC is finalizing a new date for Geoff Neal and Carlos Prates to battle.

The welterweight contenders were initially scheduled to fight at UFC 314 in April. But, Neal was forced to withdraw due to injury.

More recently, Laerte Viana reported that Neal and Prates have agreed to fight at UFC 319, which is taking place on August 16th in Chicago. MMA Fighting has also confirmed the booking with sources.

Prates (21-7) ultimately ended up fighting Ian Machado Garry on April 26th and lost the fight via unanimous decision. The Brazilian had won 11 straight fights prior to the defeat.

Neal (16-6), meanwhile, hasn’t competed since October when he recorded a TKO win (due to injury) over Rafael dos Anjos. The American was coming off a split decision loss to the aforementioned Garry, prior to the victory. Neal is 3 and 2 in his last 5 outings.

Currently, Prates is ranked #13 in the UFC’s welterweight division and Neal is ranked #11.

UFC 319 will be headlined by a middleweight fight between champion Dricus Du Plessis and Khamzat Chimaev.
