Leading up to the recent fight between Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia, it was promoted as the biggest boxing match of the year, and it looks like the contest lived up to that billing.
The stars fought on April 22nd, and Davis finished the fight with a punishing body shot in round seven. According to a recent report from Fight Freaks Unite, multiple sources are saying the bout sold approximately 1.2 million, pay-per-view buys.
If accurate, this would make the fight one of the top-selling, boxing matches in recent years. The 2018 rematch between Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin reportedly sold 1.1 million PPV buys, and the 2020, exhibition bout between Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. sold a reported 1.6 million.
