Report: Holly Holm Out of UFC Vegas 40 Headliner, Aspen Ladd Targeted as Replacement
By FCF Staff
The main event for UFC Vegas 40 is undergoing a significant change, as it’s being reported that Aspen Ladd will likely replace Holly Holm at the upcoming event.
Holm was booked to fight Norma Dumont in a featherweight contest at the upcoming, October 16th card. But, recently ESPN reported that sources say Holm has withdrawn from the bout due to an injury.
The report states that the UFC is working on finalizing Ladd vs. Dumont as the new main event.
Ladd was scheduled to fight bantamweight Macy Chiasson last weekend. But, after appearing shaky at the weigh-ins, and missing weight by one pound, the bout was ultimately canceled.
The 26-year-old Ladd (9-1) hasn’t fought since December, 2019, when she stopped Yana Kunitskaya.
The 31-year-old Dumont (6-1), meanwhile, recorded a split decision over Felicia Spencer in her last bout, which took place in May.
UFC Vegas 40 will be hosted by the Apex Facility.
