Report: Jeff “The Big Frog” Curran Returning to UFC

By FCF Staff

Jeff  “The Big Frog” Curran told FCF in May that he was holding out for another bout with Zuffa and the UFC, and according to reports today the accomplished fighter has gotten his wish.

A source close to the situation has confirmed to FCF that the 33 year-old Curran has signed a multi-fight deal with the UFC and will soon return to the Octagon for the first time since January, 2004. MMA Junkie reported the signing earlier today.

No details regarding who or when Curran will fight were offered, however, the bantamweight is expected to fight sometime this fall.

Curran (33-13-1) has gone 4-1 since he was released from the WEC in 2010, following a split decision loss to Takeya Mizugaki. Since then Curran has earned victories over Dustin Neace, Tomohiko Hori, David Love and most recently Bryan Goldsby, while competing for the XFO, Bellator and Strikeforce.

The Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt fought Matt Serra at UFC 46 and lost by unanimous decision. During Curran’s decade plus career he has earned victories over established fighters like Wagnney Fabiano, Antonio Carvalho, and Raphael Assuncao, with some of his more recent losses coming against Urijah Faber, Mike Brown and Joseph Benavidez
