Report: Jeremy Stephens Arrested On Outstanding Warrant Day of UFC on FX 5 Bout
Dana White Says Fighter Still Competing As Scheduled
By FCF Staff
A day after the UFC lost one of the scheduled bouts for tonight’s UFC on FX 5 card in Minneapolis–due to Dennis Hallman failing to make weight–it appears as though another fight is in jeopardy.
According to multiple reports, lightweight Jeremy Stephens was arrested by Minneapolis police earlier this morning and is being held by the Hennepin County Public Safety Facility. The county’s official website states that Stephens is being held, without bail, due to an out of state felony charge.
No details regarding the nature of the charge were provided.
Stephens is scheduled to fight fellow vet Yves Edwards at the UFC on FX card tonight, and UFC President Dana White has tweeted: “Don’t listen to the media! Nobody ever told them Jeremy isn’t fighting. He is fighting!!”
Yesterday the promotion was forced to scrap a lightweight bout between Hallman and Thiago Tavares, after the former came in several pounds over weight. Hallman was reportedly cut by the UFC afterwards.
Tonight’s UFC on FX 5 card will be headlined by a heavyweight bout between Travis Browne and Antonio Silva.
The card will be broadcast on FX.
