Report: Josh Emmett to Battle Lerone Murphy Next
By FCF Staff
After going through 2024 without competing, it’s being reported that Josh Emmett will return to the Octagon to face Leron Murphy.
Emmett (19-4) hasn’t fought since December, 2023, when he brutally knocked out Bryce Mitchell. Prior to that, the now 39-year-old featherweight lost via unanimous decision to now current featherweight champ, Ilia Topuria.
According to a report from MMA Fighting, sources have confirmed that Emmett will fight Murphy in the headliner of an April 5th, UFC Vegas Fight Night card.
Murphy (15-0), meanwhile, fought twice in 2024 and recorded decision wins over Edson Barboza and Dan Ige. The 33-year-old, rising contender has won all 8 of his UFC bouts to date.
Currently, Emmett is ranked #8 in the UFC’s featherweight division and Murphy is ranked #11.
