Report: Kamaru Usman – Gilbert Burns Postponed
By FCF Staff
It looks like Kamaru Usman’s 2020 campaign will only see him fight one time, as it’s being reported his upcoming bout with Gilbert Burns has been postponed.
Usman was scheduled to defend the welterweight title against Burns at UFC 256, December 12th.
But, ESPN recently reported that sources have informed the outlet that due to injuries Usman is dealing with, the fight has been postponed.
The reports says the UFC is looking at Stipe Miocic versus Francis Ngannou as a possible new headliner for UFC 256, or Colby Covington versus Jorge Masvidal, but neither fight is close to being signed.
Usman (17-1) is coming off a decision win over Masvidal in July, after he stopped Covington in December, 2019.
Burns (19-3), meanwhile, defeated Tyron Woodley and Demian Maia this past year to move into a title fight with Usman.
