Report: Mark Hunt to Face Roy Nelson on September 20th in Japan
By FCF Staff
There has been talk that Mark Hunt and Roy Nelson will square off later this year, and according to a new report, the bout appears to be a done deal.
Earlier this month, it was reported by “UFC Tonight” that the UFC was looking to book a bout between Hunt and Nelson for September 20th in Saitama, Japan. In a follow up report from MMA Fighting.com, sources “with knowledge of the situation” have relayed that both heavyweights have agreed to the fight.
The bout will reportedly be part of UFC Fight Night 51, which will be hosted by the Saitama Super Arena.
Nelson (20-9) is coming off a knockout win over Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira in April, after being decisioned by Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier.
Hunt (9-8-1) hasn’t fought since December, when he battled Antonio Silva to a majority draw. The bout was overturned to a no contest, however, after Silva failed his post fight drug test. Prior to the bout with Silva, Hunt was KO’d by former champ Junior dos Santos.
