Report: Mason Jones to Battle UFC Newcomer David Onama Next
By FCF Staff
Mason Jones will not face Alan Patrick for a second time at UFC Vegas 41, as it’s being reported the latter’s been replaced by UFC newcomer, David Onama.
Jones was booked to fight Patrick at the October 23rd card, after their bout this past June was declared a no-contest. Patrick was unable to continue in round two due to an accidental eye poke.
More recently, MMA Fighting is reporting that sources have confirmed Patrick has withdrawn from UFC Vegas 41, due to undisclosed reasons. Onama (8-0), who recorded a stoppage win earlier this month at a Fighting Alliance Championship card, will be Patrick’s replacement.
Onama will become the first Ugandan fighter to compete in the UFC.
Jones (10-1) is looking to return to the win column, as the former Cage Warriors champion dropped a decision loss to Mike Davis in January. The Welsh fighter, Jones, was making his UFC debut.
UFC Vegas 41 will take place at the Apex Facility in Las Vegas, Nevada.
