Report: Miguel Torres Returning to UFC After Recent Dismissal

By FCF Staff

It appears as though the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s termination of  Miguel Torres was a brief one, as according to multiple reports this afternoon, the promotion’s President Dana White has announced that the former WEC champ is back with the organization.

Torres was dismissed by White earlier this month, after the accomplished veteran tweeted a controversial remark making light of rape, which reportedly stemmed from a television sitcom. Torres apologized for making the comment via his official website, and since then the bantamweight has reportedly visited rape crisis centers and donated money to them.

The dismissal of Torres came shortly after former light-heavyweight champion Rashad Evans referred to the recent sex abuse scandal at Penn State, while directing comments towards upcoming opponent Phil Davis.  Evans received no formal punishment for the remarks.

Torres (40-4) last competed at UFC 119 in November, and worked his way to a unanimous decision win over Nick Pace, after losing by UD to Demetrious Johnson in May.

No information regarding when Torres will enter the Octagon again has been disclosed.
