Report: Nate Diaz Injured, Leon Edwards Fight Pushed Back
By FCF Staff
The upcoming UFC 262 card has taken a hit, as it’s being reported that Nate Diaz has incurred an injury, and as a result, his fight with Leon Edwards has been moved.
Diaz was scheduled to fight Edwards at the May 15 card. But, recently Yahoo Sports’ Kevin Iole reported that Diaz has incurred a minor injury, and that he will now face Edwards on June 12.
UFC 262 is scheduled to take place on that date in Glendale, Arizona. MMA Junkie has also confirmed the fight has been moved to June 12, but that it will remain a five-round fight.
The 36-year-old Diaz (20-12) hasn’t fought since November 2019, when he lost via TKO (due to doctor stoppage) to Jorge Masvidal. Diaz is 3-2 in his last 5 bouts.
The 29-year-old Edwards (18-3) is coming off a no-contest result with Belal Muhammad in March, as the latter could not continue after receiving an accidental eye poke. Edwards had won 8 straight prior to the bout.
Edwards also pointed towards the fight’s postponement on Twitter.
