By FCF Staff
As the Professional Fighters League gets set to begin its 2025 campaign, it’s being reported the league has made significant changes to its tournament format, and that includes eliminating the $1 million dollar prize.
The PFL was largely built promoting a regular season and points format, whereby, fighters advanced to the playoffs. The winners of each weight division’s playoff tourney would win a $1 million dollar prize.
Recently, however, Al Zullino reported via social media that revised PFL contracts reference a $500,000 price being awarded to tournament winners as a “bonus”.
MMA Junkie has spoken with sources who are reporting that the points-based, regular-season format will likely no longer be featured, and that the seasons and tournaments are expected to be more prospect focused.
In 2024, the PFL started promoting “Superfight” championships, one of which was won by former UFC heavyweight champ, Francis Ngannou. A pivot away from focusing on the regular season and playoffs would provide the league with considerably more broadcasting time to allocate to contenders and championship fights.
The PFL has yet to announce or comment on any of the reported changes.
