Report: Rory MacDonald, Carlos Condit Rematch Set for UFC 158 in March
Following his impressive unanimous decision win over BJ Penn at UFC on FOX 5, Rory MacDonald called for a rematch with former interim champ Carlos Condit, and it appears the rising welterweight has gotten his wish.
The bout will reportedly take place March 16th, at UFC 158 in Montreal, Quebec, according to MacDonald, who revealed the news while appearing on MMA Junkie Radio. UFC President Dana White has also confirmed the booking according to the outlet’s report.
MacDonald (14-1) has scored four straight wins since he was stopped by Condit at UFC 155 in June, 2010. The 23 year-old fighter had been winning the bout, until Condit turned the tide in the third round and prompted the referee’s intervention with just seven seconds remaining.
The 28 year-old Condit (28-6) is coming off a unanimous decision loss to champion Georges St. Pierre at UFC 154 in November, after scoring a UD win over Nick Diaz in February to take the interim belt.
The UFC has not made any official announcement regarding the reported fight.
