Rory MacDonald won’t be jumping back into action anytime soon, as the rising welterweight has reportedly aggravated the neck injury, which forced him to withdraw from a UFC 158 bout with Carlos Condit.

MacDonald informed the Canadian television network Sportsnet that although his rehabilitation was going well, he recently “tweaked” the injury during training, and will have his neck examined soon.

The 23 year-old, Tristar fighter is coming off an impressive, unanimous decision win over BJ Penn in December, which was his fourth straight win.

MacDonald (14-1) requested a rematch with Condit following the victory, who is the only man to defeat the Canadian to date. Condit came from behind to stop MacDonald at UFC 115 in June, 2010.

As a result of MacDonald’s injury, Johny Hendricks was moved into the bout with Condit, and Nate Marquardt was brought into fight Hendrick’s original opponent, Jake Ellenberger.

UFC 158 will take place Saturday night and will be hosted by Montreal’s Bell Centre.
