Report: Rousimar Palhares Passes Pre-Fight Drug Test, Cleared for WSOF 9 Title Fight

By FCF Staff

Provided Rousimar Palhares makes weight tomorrow, the UFC veteran has been cleared to fight for the World Series of Fighting welterweight championship on Saturday, after passing a pre-fight drug test.

According to multiple reports, the Nevada State Athletic Commission has announced that Palhares passed the random drug test he was administered, and as a result, the fighter has been granted a license. The feared submission artist is set to face champion Steve Carl in Las Vegas, Nevada, March 29th.

Palhares, who failed a post-fight drug test in 2012 after UFC on FX 6, will be fighting for the first time since he tapped out Mike Pierce at UFC Fight Night 29. Palhares held on to the fight winning heel hook for too long and was subsequently banned by the UFC.

WSOF 9 will be hosted by the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino and it will be broadcast throughout the U.S. on the NBC Sports Network.
