Report: Ryan Bader Says He’ll be “Surprised” if Rashad Evans Shows up For UFC 192
By FCF Staff
Since it’s been nearly two years since Rashad Evans has fought, Ryan Bader apparently doesn’t believe “Suga” will show up for their October 3rd scrap.
Evans has been booked to fight Bader at UFC 192, which will mark the first time he’s fought since November, 2013, when he stopped Chael Sonnen. Since then, the 35 year-old Evans (19-3-1) has been sidelined with knee injuries and surgeries.
Recently Bader appeared on “Submission Radio“, and while discussing his upcoming bout with the former champ, “Darth stated (quote via FOX Sports).
“Honestly, I’m surprised if he shows up,” Bader said.
“If you’re not training for two years your body isn’t used to that, the rigors of a training camp and what you have to put it through to be in peak physical condition. Yeah you can skate by and do just enough and show up to the fight pretty much unprepared but you made it. So we’ll see how that happens. Two ACL surgeries in a row, it’s no joke, especially at his age. So that, coupled with the whole deal of ring rust, and like I said, we’re at two different points right now.”
The 32 year-old Bader (19-4), meanwhile, has won four straight fights and is coming off a split decision win over Phil Davis in January. Bader is currently ranked #4 in the UFC’s 205 division and Evans is sitting at #5.
UFC 192 will be hosted by Houston’s Toyota Center.
